In September 2013 we reviewed the New Balance MT1210 shoes, and spoke very highly of them. Among other things, they featured Vibram soles, which was a bit of a departure for New Balance. Those original 'version 1' shoes were designed for the Leadville race:

This legendary ultramarathon, also known as “The Race Across the Sky”, takes place in Leadville, CO over 100 miles of extreme Colorado Rockies terrain. Known as one of the toughest physical challenges in the world, the event brings together the best trail runners from across the globe. As part of the sponsorship, New Balance will also become a sponsor of the entire Leadville Race Series which includes the Leadville Trail 100 Run Training Camp, the Leadville Trail Marathon, the Leadville Trail Heavy Half Marathon and the Leadville Silver Rush 50 Trail Run.

The original Leadville MT1210s were quite popular - so popular in fact that New Balance broke from the very common tradition that no shoe model lasts for more than one year. So popular that they have released a version 2 of the MT1210 shoe, called MT1210v2. It looks just like the original version 1.

We (my wife and I) tested two pairs of the original MT1210 shoes in a size 10 US (Eu 44) and width 4E. We used them for walking and we used them for running. We liked them so much, especially for running, that we did something very unusual for us: we bought another three pairs, expecting the model to go off the market at the end of the year.
