Does anyone know where you can buy a Fire Maple Petrel HX ? I saw a review by Flat Cat and am interested in getting one. Can’t find anything on Google, AliExpress etc – maybe it’s not released yet ? Or my search skills are not what they used to be 😀?
Dec 29, 2023 at 5:18 pm #3800405Check Amazon. You have to buy a stove, spoon and flint with it for $74.

Dec 29, 2023 at 5:38 pm #3800409Same setup is on AlieExpress. On that page, you can choose to buy the pot only:

Feb 6, 2024 at 11:44 am #3803310Petrel pot only appears to be available in US directly from Fire Maple.
Pot only item adds to cart and enters checkout process, but I’ve not yet fully executed purchase.

Feb 6, 2024 at 12:22 pm #3803319I have purchase the Petrel HX mug twice through AliExpress.
Apr 20, 2024 at 7:29 am #3809689Petrel is now available on Amazon without the stove kit for $23.
Apr 20, 2024 at 11:37 am #3809713Does this pot work with a Fire Maple FMS-300T stove?
Apr 20, 2024 at 3:22 pm #3809718Looking at the support arms, not without bending those arms.
Is this the fire maple equivalent of the BRS? In one of these threads someone said they were able to modify the BRS to make it work. Fire maple sells the Petrel with the hornet.
Apr 20, 2024 at 3:32 pm #3809719make sure the tips align with the center of the burner. Both the BRS and the Fire Maple 300 t will work
Apr 20, 2024 at 4:42 pm #3809737That seems like a pretty simple mod. Thanks!
Apr 20, 2024 at 8:59 pm #3809760The Widesea Camping Gas Burner fits perfectly.. I only wish it had a piezo igniter.

If you buy the pot and stove on a frequent AliExpress sale, you should be able to get both for $30 total.
Apr 22, 2024 at 12:34 pm #3809894This one looks like a Soto WindMaster clone. The geometry may work out better wrt wind robustness. My 2 cents
Apr 22, 2024 at 3:36 pm #3809916Jon, I have that Widesea stove you linked. It came as part of a set with the Widesea HX pot. The pot support doesn’t really fit on the Windmaster. The stem of the Windmaster is a larger diameter.
The pot support is flexible enough that it can be bent into the Petrel grooves. I am going to try to permanently bend the pot support to see if I can get a better fit.
Apr 24, 2024 at 8:11 am #3810034Correction on the Widesea Windmaster knockoff Jon posted. I must not have had the pot support installed properly. It does fit the pot but not perfectly. The burner is a little smaller than the Windmaster. The pot support fits the Windmaster and is a better fit for the Petrel using the Windmaster.
Apr 29, 2024 at 2:42 pm #3810353The Petrel pot works well with the Toaks Siphon stove and it’s stand.
The stove, stand, and pot are a good fit. The stove’s flame is well protected.
The stove directs the flames to the center of the bottom of the pot to enhance efficiency.
Everything seen in the top photo, plus 8 fl oz of Yellow Heat fuel and a mini-Bic weighs 17.6 oz.
I live in central Texas. Monday afternoon, 29Apl it was 86°F and there was a ~5 mph breeze. This combination brought 2 cups of tap water (@76°F) to a boil in 6m 51 s. For me, this is the sweet spot. Fast enough to be useful, but long enough to poor–and enjoy–a wee bit of Buffalo Trace. The Toaks stove can be snuffed out by placing the Petrel pot bottom over the stove opening (the stove fits through the bottom opening on the pot–barely). Starting with 30 ml of fuel, I had 10 ml remaining post-boil.
